Geotechnics

Sea Geo Survey's staff has a well-known experience in planning and execution of geognostic surveys, both on land and in acquatic environment (sea - continental waters), from an environmental to a strictly geotechnical point of view.

On land:

• Geognostic drillings (continuous drilling), with rods and core sampler or wire-line;
• Undisturbed sampling (corer, double corer, Shelby, Osterberg..etc);

• Environmental corer DS T1S
• Hand corers

• Testings (SPT, Permeability Tests, Lefranc and Lugeon, etc.)
• Cone Penetration Test (CPT/ CPTE/ CPTU)

• Light SPT testing with DPM30
• Piezometer installation, set up, and monitoring
• Environmental monitoring

Sea and continental waters:

Geognostic drillings are performed throughout the conventional methodologies used on land, with some limits and differences.

The choice of coring methodology depends on the vessel, barge, or jack up at disposal, on the water and coring depth, and on the quality of the sample to be provided.

Geognostic drillings are performed both as typical geotechnical activity and as complementary activity of geophysical surveys (vibrocoring, in general).
In this case, the scope of the drillings is double-faced: to calibrate the supposed seismo-stratigraphic model and to take samples for the following chemical-physical-mechanical characterization.

Seismic data interpretation overlapped to the actual stratigraphic sequence (vibrocoring).
